INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the 21-day fast! Whether this is your first time fasting or your tenth, no two fasts are the same. It will be just as new, fresh, and real the tenth time as it is the first – so we are all on equal footing here.
The theme of our fast is Renovation, Restoration & Renewal.
What prompted me to call a fast was seeing our church building in disrepair. I knew it wasn’t going to be put back together overnight. It was going to be a process – which led to a vision I had in the spirit. I saw our congregation in the same light. I saw that same process happening to us as a church body both individually and corporately. Collectively, we are all undergoing renovation, restoration & renewal.
I believe that God is about to do an amazing work in your life and bring revival to St. James Church. What an incredible journey these twenty-one days will be as we fast, pray, and grow together. Fasting has a way of bringing every part of your life into focus in ways nothing else can do. If you will allow your moments of hunger and cravings to serve as reminders to stop and pray, you will find a closeness with your Heavenly Father like you have never known.
If you have any medical concerns about fasting, please check with a physician before you start, but once you take this first step – and go without that first meal, you have stepped out of the comfort zone and into the faith zone – into the supernatural.
Our fast begins February 1 and goes for 21 days. After the fast, we will join together on February 22 for a special Ash Wednesday meal followed by our service. I believe that when we fast together as a family, there will be an extraordinary move of the Holy Spirit felt by everyone.

There are several types of fasting. The one I’ve chosen for our church is the Daniel Fast. Eat no meat, no sweets, and no bread. Drink water and juice. Eat fruits and vegetables, seeds, and nuts.
Enclosed is a list of Scriptures – one for every day of the fast. I encourage you to read, pray, and meditate on each one. Some even enjoy journaling their journey.
I will be here with you to lead and guide you and the Holy Spirit will be there with you through the process of each day. You are never alone – remember that it is the attitude of a heart sincerely seeking Him to which God responds with a blessing (Isaiah 58, Jeremiah 14:12, 1 Corinthians 8:8).
May God greatly bless you as you fast!
