DAY 8

March 9, 2017

God looks upon Moses and says, "I want to use you to deliver my people." Isn’t it amazing that our God, the creator and sustainer of everything, chooses to use us to do the things He wants to do?! Think on that…

Yes, it’s an immense privilege… but I feel for Moses.

Have you ever been called to do a task that is much greater than yourself? Whether at work or at home, or even some of our natural roles as parents, teachers, students, coaches, bosses, spouses, and more… No matter what role or task, if you are going to do it well, it will be greater than ourselves. And I believe that’s intentional on God’s part. Why?

REFLECT:

Let’s look at how God called Moses again…

Exodus 3:10 – “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

Look at how Moses responds to this calling… See if you can relate:

3:11 “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

3:13 “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

4:1 “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?”

4:10 “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”

Lastly, 4:13 “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”

Haha… Sorry for laughing, but this is almost comical. We are just like Moses.

He is making all sorts of excuses for why he doesn’t feel like he should go.

But how real is this experience? God calls us to do things that are way greater than ourselves and we make every excuse under the sun to convince God that He called the wrong guy or gal.

Why is that?

It’s not like there are better people out there than you… yes, I’m talking about you.

You are just who God wants to use to do great things on His behalf. You, your limitations, your past, your imperfections, your fears, your good and bad qualities, the way you look or carry yourself… God wants to use YOU!

There are people you know who are in need of deliverance, salvation, healing, strength, courage, relationship, and God has you in mind to provide that for them.

So how are we like Moses?

First, we are like Moses because we think God has got it wrong… We are not the “right” person for the job. Secondly, we are like Moses because we look at ourselves to get the task done, when God is telling us that it is HE who will do it. You are simply an instrument.

Exodus 3

14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’

CONFESS:

God of mercy, I admit that I can’t but you can.

I admit that I’m weak but you are strong.

I admit that I’m not, but you are the Great I Am.

Today, I surrender my heart, my body, my mind, and spirit to your service.

Put me to work. Lead the way.

And when I make excuses, give me the grace of a second chance.

PRAY:

Isaiah 6:8

Here I am, Lord. Send me!

Here I am, send me to______________________

(the blank space is for you to fill in where, to whom, what for, the Lord is calling you).

Moses finally went…

Exodus 5:1

Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the wilderness.’”

WILL YOU GO?
